Going with the flow.

I’m sure we’ve all heard this popular saying but I’m not sure that anyone really understands how to actually go with the flow, simply by being in the moment. So I’ve written this short post about what it means for me, in my own words.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

To go with the flow means to stop putting expectations on every moment and just appreciate each moment for what it is.

It is letting go of thought attachments, what we might think our life should be like, and to let go of expectations regarding a situation or outcome.

It is to come back to the present and not use the words of the constant thought narrative in your head to label or define the moment in anyway.

To be in the moment, come back to your 5 senses: Look, listen, smell, touch and taste.

What do you see? What can you hear? How does your phone feel in your hands?

For me, listening to the noises around me is the easiest way to come to present if I am at home. If I am outside, observing my surroundings works just as well.

Alternatively, focusing my attention on feeling my breath entering my body, filling my chest, and then how it feels as I exhale that breath, also works.

Conscious breathing also engages me in another line of thought – how closely we are connected to everything in our environment, symbiotically – but that’s another topic to explore.

Coming back to the present moment, intentionally, as many times as possible during a day will bring about a level of mental clarity that constant thought is incapable of delivering.

I hope this short post helps anyone who doesn’t understand how to “go with the flow”.

Have a good day / night.

Megan 🥰
