‘To err is human, to forgive divine’. This saying by Alexander Pope basically tells us that when somebody commits a sin, God forgives them. So when a person forgives another person, they are behaving in a Godlike manner.
What this quote doesn’t address is that in life, the person we often need to forgive the most is actually ourselves.
Most situations in life that require forgiveness have a counterpart that included giving our power to another person (not every situation, of course, for example; being randomly assaulted) I’ll give you an example of what I mean:
I have decided to forgive my friend for treating me nastily. I must also forgive myself for allowing myself to be affected by their nastiness.
So when we forgive someone for hurting us we often forget that we also need to forgive ourselves for accepting and allowing the hurt to infiltrate our emotions. We gave our power away and it was our decision to do so and we must make peace with that.
It’s something that I found difficult to get my head around at first. Basically it comes down to that I’m the the one who is responsible for my happiness and whether or not I let someone else effect my state of mind. By not forgiving someone, or myself, I am letting that situation have power over my emotions. No thank you, I am the one in control of how I feel. When I choose to forgive and let go, I won’t be a prisoner of these emotions anymore.
We’re all constantly getting bombarded with energy that doesn’t belong to us but if we are mindful and open, we can also choose how we react to that energy.
It’s easier said that done, but one method I use to catalyze my ability to forgive is by consciously asking our planet, Mother Earth, to assist with the manifestation of the process.
So what I actually do is this: I write a list of all the things I need to forgive myself and other people for and then I bury it in my backyard. I give those feelings back to the Earth so our planet can help me heal and transform my negative feelings back into positive, source energy.
I’ll never forget the night at my parent’s house when I was about 23 or 24 and I saw the energy of our planet manifesting in front my eyes. I had no idea what it was I was seeing, it was one of those moments where you think ‘this could be a movie’.
I was sitting in our courtyard at Mum’s. Our courtyard is pretty big – big enough to park 3 extra cars. On one end of the court yard is a side path which leads to the backyard. The side way is completely gated so we could confine our dog, Leah, to the backyard if need be.
So it was about 4am on the weekend. Earlier that night there had been torrential rain but by that time the storm had cleared and I was having a cigarette in my pajamas at the table and chairs that were in the courtyard. I was facing the side way to the back yard.
I was staring off into space when I suddenly saw a huge ball of moving energy glide up the side way, toward the gate, completely silently. The ball of energy was about 1.5 to 2 meters across and was undulating and glittering. It was like looking at a mirage that was confined into the shape of a sphere.
I kid you not, I sat there for about 30 seconds looking at this ball of moving energy, not even blinking, trying to decide if it was real or if I was hallucinating. I wasn’t scared of it, but I could tell it was consciously aware of me because it seemed to come close to the gate and then would move slightly back – as if it wasn’t entirely sure if it should approach me.
I sat there for about a minute or 2 staring and questioning my sanity. I could of touched it if I was brave enough to get close – I wasn’t. So I finished my cigarette and went inside, entering WTF mode. In hindsight, I should of tried to take a photo.
It wasn’t until years later that someone told me that what I had seen that night, is known as ‘crystalline’. My understanding of what Crystalline is, is that it is the energetic mirror of physical, geological crystals. I’m not sure why it exists or why I saw it that night, but my opinion is that it was a manifestation of the energy that our planet produces.
You can talk to the Earth and connect to it in the same way that you connect to your own heart energy. You can ask the Earth for help with manifesting your intentions and as long as they come from a place of love, universal energies and the energy of the Earth will help you catalyze these changes within your life.
The Earth will also recycle your negative energy into pure, positive, source energy, but you have direct some effort into setting the intention to let go of this energy. I visualize breathing in positive white light and then breathing out any negative energy into the form of a black cloud. I then picture that cloud being sucked down into the Earth and being converted from a black cloud into a white, positive cloud.
As usual I go off on tangents. Forgiveness and releasing/transmuting energy go hand in hand though.
In conclusion: always be kind to and forgive yourselves and let Mother Earth help you do this if you’re having trouble with letting go 🙂
